The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville celebrates its 100th anniversary this year with bigger, brighter, bolder shows.
I’m always thrilled to visit Music City, and this year is extra welcoming with new hotels and restaurants, and new experiences. During my latest getaway, I attended a show at Grand Ole Opry, the longest-running live radio program in the country, in celebration of is 100th anniversary. But Nashville is so much more than country music. Here are a few of my highlights:
- Old Town Trolley Tour, with live narration and stops at the city’s most popular sites;
- A memorable brunch at Audrey, known for elevated Appalachian cuisine by Chef Sean Brock, a James Beard Award winner;
- Cheekwood Mansion and Botanical Gardens, a grand estate home and gardens from the 1930s;
- RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley recorded more than 240 songs;
- The Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the Greek temple, which houses a 42-foot gilded statue of Athena.
