Antalya, Türkiye: An ancient world on the Mediterranean Sea thrives in a modern era

Antalya, the jewel of the Turkish Riviera, draws throngs of tourists and travelers to its midnight blue waters, archeological sites, scenic beauty and cosmopolitan vibe. A former stronghold of the Roman Empire, the region’s history is both complex and fascinating. I recently spent several days in Antalya, exploring the Old Town, combing through ancient ruins and dining delectably–the sun-baked summers of the Mediterranean coast are ideal for farming and horticulture. I also made friends with several of the many cats who roam the city. They are welcome everywhere, including my hotel lobby.
