2015 Annual “DREAMHOME” in Chicago thru December 6

Six renowned interior designers curated ultra-luxurious living spaces for the 11th Annual “DreamHome” showcase in Chicago. Each designer took over a different room and appointed it with home furnishings from the Merchandise Mart’s Design Center–as well as their own artistic vision.

The DreamHome welcomes visitors through December 6, 2015.

Here’s a peek at this year’s fabulousness:

* In the dining room, by Anne Coyle Interiors, intricately carved woods and contrasting botanical prints are elevated by a dramatic crystal chandelier. Her inspiration was Baroness Karen von Blixen, the Danish author whose 17 years as a coffee plantation owner in Kenya are recounted in the print and film memoir, “Out of Africa.”

* Eva Quateman’s living room embraces the softer side of the Mid-20th Century by combining sleek lines with witty curves and bold doses of pattern and color. The richly upholstered peridot walls and clever chandelier add high-wattage drama.

* The bedroom, by Frank Fontana, teams high glam and rugged sensibility. Metallic wall coverings and  mirrored accents contrast comfortably with rustic wood elements, and it’s all washed in monochromatic grays.

Additional participating designers are: Marshall Erb, foyer; David Kaufman and Tom Segal, study (feature image); and John Cannon and Cary Frank, outdoor dining room.

You’ll find the DreamHome on the first floor of the Merchandise Mart at 222 W. Merchandise Plaza. That’s the squatty Art Deco behemoth on the north side of the Chicago River between Orleans and Wells streets. The showcase is open for viewing Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are accepted on behalf of Almost Home Kids.
