Fly: Volaris Opens New O’Hare to Monterrey, MEX, Route

Ultra-low-cost Mexican airline Volaris on June 17 opened a new route between O’Hare International Airport in Chicago and Monterrey (Mexico) International Airport. I was honored to be ticketed on the inaugural flight originating in Chicago that day.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Volaris was founded in 2006 and now serves 60 destinations in Mexico, United States, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. More are on the way.

For tourists and business leaders alike, this new link is a vital link. Chicago is a major economic force and cultural center that attracts Mexican tourists and business travelers. Likewise, Monterrey is the capital of the northeastern state of Nuevo Leon and the third-largest city in Mexico. Nestled amid the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range, Monterrey is the country’s leading business and industrial center. The area also is rich in attractions and excitement for tourists and families.

(Many thanks to Volaris and Visit Mexico for hosting my amazing visit to Monterrey!)
